Starting June 25, 2025, there’s an important update for sellers using Amazon’s Pan-European FBA: the Netherlands is becoming a required country in the program.
Whether you’ve been selling on Amazon for years or you’re just getting started — this update can impact your inventory, your competitive edge, and your VAT setup. Time to get things in order.
What is Pan-European FBA again?
With Pan-EU FBA (Fulfilment by Amazon), Amazon automatically distributes your stock across its European warehouses. You choose which countries to store inventory in (minimum two), and Amazon handles the rest — making sure your products are stored locally and delivered quickly to customers across borders.
The big win? Faster delivery times and lower shipping costs for your customers.
The trade-off? You’re responsible for VAT in every country where your stock is stored — which means you’ll need a local VAT registration.
The Netherlands becomes a required Pan FBA country
Until now, the Netherlands wasn’t part of the required countries in the Pan-EU FBA network. But that’s changing. Starting June 25, 2025, your offers must also be available on Amazon.nl if you want to continue using the program.
What does this change mean?
Your listings must be visible on Amazon.nl
You’ll likely serve Dutch customers and deal with Dutch VAT
Amazon.nl becomes a more relevant and competitive marketplace
This isn’t entirely unexpected — Amazon has been investing in the Dutch market. In 2023, they opened a fulfilment center in the Netherlands. This move is likely another step toward localised logistics for FBA sellers.
What this means for you as a seller
- More competition on Amazon.nl
Because more international sellers will now be required to list their products on the Dutch marketplace, competition will increase. Expect more listings, sharper prices, and more ad pressure. - Check your VAT position in the Netherlands
If you already sell to Dutch customers, you may already have a VAT registration. If not, now’s the time to sort that out. VAT registration takes time — and without it, you’re not compliant. - Inventory and bookkeeping will get more complex
As more countries enter your FBA setup, your admin becomes harder to manage. Once Amazon stores your inventory in the Netherlands, you’ll need to declare VAT there — accurately and on time.
