When should you register for a German VerpackG?

If you’re selling products in Germany, you need to register for VerpackG (German Packaging Act) before you sell or ship any products that come in packaging. This applies to everything from product boxes to shipping materials like envelopes and tape.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

Register with the LUCID Packaging Register before you place any packaging on the German market (this includes both product and shipping packaging).

No packaging on the market without registration – You can’t sell in Germany if you’re not registered.

Failure to comply can result in fines up to €200,000 or a sales ban.

Thresholds: If you’re dealing with large volumes of packaging, you’ll need to submit an additional Declaration of Completeness annually.
