Amazon to Discontinue Call-Off Stock Program

Overview of the Call-Off Stock Program

Amazon’s call-off stock program has been a vital tool for international sellers to efficiently manage their inventory within Europe. The initiative allowed sellers to store products in Amazon’s fulfillment centers across various European countries without transferring ownership until a sale was made. This setup enabled sellers to enjoy lower domestic FBA fees and simplified VAT obligations.

Amazon Announces Program Closure

In a significant shift, Amazon has communicated to its sellers that the call-off stock program will be discontinued as of August 1, 2024. Until that date, sellers can continue to sell their current call-off stock inventory at domestic FBA fees. However, the ability to enable new call-off stock countries will no longer be available.

Impact on Sellers

After the program ends, all transactions will incur European Fulfilment Network fees, which can potentially increase costs for sellers. Amazon has proposed a solution for those who wish to continue storing inventory in the affected countries: enroll in the PAN-EU FBA using a VAT Registration Number (VRN). If sellers do not take action by the provided deadline, Amazon will automatically return their remaining call-off stock inventory to the country of origin without charge.

Financial Assistance for Transition

Recognizing the potential challenges, Amazon is offering financial incentives to sellers who proactively switch to PAN-EU FBA. Those who register for a VRN by November 1, 2024, will receive a reimbursement of €540 per country to cover the costs of acquiring VRNs and tax filings for 12 months. Furthermore, sellers who make the transition between August 1 and November 1, 2024, will be reimbursed for the fee difference between the European Fulfilment Network and the domestic FBA fees.
